1.1  Follow the procedures for communicating with a FLO-STATION using a laptop.
1.2 Confirm the Pipe Diameter.  Use a tape measure or carpenter’s rule, and/or inside pipe calipers. Both a vertical and horizontal measurement must be taken.  Verify the inside pipe diameter is correct by comparing your measured value with the value entered in the box labeled “Diameter”  If the number in the box is different from what you just measured, make note of the entered value and then enter your measured value.
1.2.1 Confirm the Sensor Offset.  Use a carpenters rule, yard stick or any other rigid measuring device.  Sensor offset is the total distance from the top of the sensor mounting bracket where the sensor makes contact all the way to the bottom of the channel or structure.  Note: sensor height is the total distance so if water or sediment is between the sensor bracket and pipe/channel bottom then you must also measure through that to obtain the true sensor height.  Verify the sensor height is correct by comparing your measured value with the value entered in the box labeled “Sensor Offset”.  If the number in the box is different from what you measured, make note of the entered value and then enter your measured value.
1.3.1 Using a rigid, slim, ruler – place the ruler vertically into the flowing liquid to the point where the ruler bottoms out in the flow channel. Make sure that the ruler is short enough to be placed inside the pipe so that the depth measurement can be taken in the pipe.
1.3.2 IMPORTANT – WHILE PERFORMING THE MANUAL DEPTH MEASUREMENTS, BE SURE NOT TO BE STANDING IN THE FLOWING WATER, AS THIS WILL AFFECT THE WATER DEPTH IN THE PIPE AND/OR CHANNEL. 
1.3.3  IMPORTANT- While performing the manual depth measurements, be sure the area around the sensor, especially the area directly below the sensor is clear of all tools, wires, cables, etc. 
1.4  Locate the box labeled “Ultrasonic Level CAL” and click on the “CALC” icon to the right.  The “Calculate Ultrasonic Level CAL” box should have popped up on the screen.  Click on “Take Sample”.  The sensor takes approximately 45 seconds to generate a level reading.
1.4.1   Once the sensor has taken a level reading you should see a number populate in the box next to “Sensor”.   In the box labeled “Known”, enter your measured value from step 1.3.1.  Note: enter the number to the nearest hundredth of an inch.  Ex: 1 ½ inches of water should be entered as 1.50.
1.4.2  With numbers in both the Sensor and Known boxes, the software will calculate the difference between the two numbers and automatically enter that number in the box labeled “Level CAL”. 
1.4.3  If all the numbers seem reasonable click on “OK”, the Ultrasonic Level CAL window will now close.  Next, look to the upper right hand corner for a TAB labeled “SEND SETUP”.  Click on “SEND SETUP”  
Note: A dialog box will pop up asking if you want to set the clock, click “CANCEL”.  After that another dialog box will pop up warning you that if you send setup your logged data will be erased.  At this point any flow data on the logger will be erased by clicking OK so if you need to save the data file on the logger click CANCEL and proceed to the “READ SETUP” tab to download and save the logger data.  If the data has already been saved or doesn’t require download, then click on “OK” and you’re done.
1.4.4  Once SEND SETUP is complete you will see a message “Send Setup Complete”.  At this time if you wish you can verify the sensor level readings are accurate by clicking on the tab “REAL TIME” and then click on “SAMPLE”.   The sensor takes approximately 45 seconds to generate a real time reading at which time the 3 channel boxes should generate positive values.  See the box labeled “Level”.  If the display value seems inaccurate, repeat steps 1.3.1 through 1.4.4.
